Sister Marie Therese de Feo CSSF ...is currently the Administrator at the Evangelization Center in Montello. Formerly, she was a Parish Life Coordinator and a health care administrator for thirty-five years. She was an adjunct professor for Chapman University teaching in its Gerontology Program. She has served as RCIA Director, Director of Religious Ed, RCIA and is a VIRTUS Facilitator for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. She holds several Master’s degrees including a Masters in Pastoral Ministry from Regis University.

Bruce Clark

Bruce Clark...is from Beatitudes parish. His search for meaning and spirituality led him to a study of history and religious studies at USC and a monastic history at the University of Exeter. He served a s a Jesuit seminarian and missionary. He is a recent graduate of the Catholic Bible Institute of Orange County. Currently, he and his wife, Virginia, are undergoing their second year of diaconate formation in the LA Archdiocese. For three decades he has been a public-school educator and administrator in urban Los Angeles County. He is a father of three.

Pilar Chavando...nació en México y creció en Los Ángeles. Ha estado casada 26 años y tiene tres hijos asistiendo universidades. Es licenciada en Administración de Empresas y ha sido catequista y trabajado en varias industrias. Durante siete años ha desempeñado publicidad y consejería laica en una clínica pro-vida.

Pilar was born in Mexico and raised in LA. Married for 27 years, she has three children attending college. She has a B.S. in Business Administration, has been a catechist and worked in various industries. She also counsels and helps market for a pro-life clinic.

Deacon Mike Freeman

Mike Freeman

Deacon Mike Freeman...was ordained a deacon in Dallas, Texas in 1978. He moved to Los Angeles where he continued his career as a Fireman, rising to the position of Los Angeles County Fire Chief, which he held for 22 years. He is now a Deacon at St. Bruno and leads the Adult Confirmation Classes, Safeguard the Children Program, and coordinates many other ministries.

Deacon Gene Gleason

Gene Gleason

Deacon Gene Gleason...serves at Beatitudes of Our Lord Catholic Church in La Mirada where he is active in many areas of Catholic life, including Bereavement Ministry, Food Pantry, Juvenile Detention ministries, Catholic Men’s Fellowship, Cursillo Retreat, and the La Mirada Clergy Council. He is also a self-employed attorney with over 36 years spanning a career in both criminal trial and Estate Planning practice.

Father Dave Heney

Father Dave Heney is the new pastor of St. Bruno Catholic Church. The son of a scientist, he was ordained in 1978 and holds a Master’s Degree  in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from USC. He is the author of Don’t Tell Me What to Do, a Catholic Understanding of Modern Moral Issues, and a leader of the annual Holy Land Archaeological Tour, now in its 12th year. In 2002 he founded the University Series.

Deacon Mike Hidalgo

Deacon Mike Hidalgo

Deacon Mike Hidalgo …is a Deacon at Beatitudes parish in La Mirada and is a Retired Police Sergeant. He has been married to Martha for 45 years with 3 adult daughters and 3 granddaughters. Mike retired after 30 years as a law enforcement officer and answered God’s call to the diaconate and was ordained in June 2010. His ministries include Cursillo, Catholic Men’s Fellowship, RCIA, Baptism Preparation and Marriage Preparation, and training those who visit the sick and homebound of the parish.

Fr. John Hopkins L.C.

Fr. John Hopkins L.C. ...was ordained in 1991 by Pope John Paul II. He served for 18 years in Washington, DC, and helped found Our Lady of Bethesda Retreat Center and the Center for Family Development. He is president emeritus of Divine Mercy University, which integrates the best of modern psychology with Catholic faith. He has degrees in Humanities, Philosophy, Psychology and Moral Theology.

Sister Dominic Jones...is a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame, and is currently serving at the Archdiocesan Metropolitan Marriage Tribunal, where she is the Case Coordinator for all special marriage cases, specializing in Favors of the Faith and Pauline Privilege Marriage Cases. She brings over 12 years of full time experience in handling annulment cases.

Jason Manley...lived his early years without a deep relationship with Christ, but at age 19 a profound conversion experience changed everything. Jason now has over 10 years of youth ministry experience and has led youth events throughout the country. He is now the Director of Youth and Family Ministry at St. Bruno. Jason loves spending time with his wife, Amanda, and their three young children.

Paul Machuca ...is married to his wife of 37 years, Ana, has four grown children and five grandchildren. He is a retired State employee with over 30 years of experience in adult education. His participation in Parish life includes: Eucharist Ministry to the Sick, Lector, Bereavement Ministry, Religious Education for Confirmation, and Baptismal Ministry. He and his wife have also been involved in Marriage Encounter, Cursillos in Christianity, and are currently active with Marriage Preparation through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Bill Moran After turning away from his Catholic upbringing Bill was challenged to consider his spiritual life. That challenge came from a respected business leader and would set him on a life long journey educating himself on various religions and worldviews which ultimately resulted in the founding of WhyCatholic.com. Bill is an entrepreneur and holds a BS in Psychology. His practical approach to faith and life make his talks easy to understand and inspiring. He speaks to many groups and people one-to-one on the Catholic faith.

Father Steve Nyl …is the pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Whittier. He is a member of the Redemptorist Fathers, a religious order founded by St. Alphonsus Liguori and dedicated to the spiritual transformation of people everywhere, especially through dynamic teaching and preaching.

Father Bill Nicholas...is the Associate Pastor of St. Bruno. He was ordained in 2001 for the Archdiocese of San Francisco after completing studies for his Masters in theology, an M. Div., and a bachelor’s in Sacred theology (STB). He recently completed his MBA. An accomplished writer, speaker, and parish mission leader, he frequently speaks at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress.

Greg Perea...is a middle school teacher and religion coordinator at St. Bruno. Greg has served both in parish youth ministry and as the school worship leader since 2009. In that time, he has led numerous retreats throughout Southern California for middle school and high school students.

Father Luis Proenca

Father Luis Proenca...directs and produces video documentaries and new media art. His latest works were broadcast on Rádio Televisão Portuguesa Internacional around the world. Since 2000, he has taught Television and Film Production at Loyola Marymount University where he is an Associate Professor and Department Chair. He is also the President of the Non-Profit Production Company; Hope Media Productions.

Yolanda Rangel …is a St. Mary parishioner and has resided in the great City of Whittier for over 15 years. She is a mother of two daughters, Alyssa and Mia. In 2001, Yolanda was given the most beautiful miracle. Her youngest Mia needed an organ transplant - through prayer, faith, and the intercession of Saint Therese of the Little Flower, Yolanda’s prayers were answered, in the form a flower! This is her story that she wants to share with those who are willing to listen.

Barbara Recchia... is a St. Bruno parishioner and the first woman ever to serve as Official White House Photographer. She served under Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and the first Bush administrations. During this time, she continued a profound spiritual journey while recording some of the most important moments in our nations recent history. Barbara will share her amazing spiritual insights of her time in the White House.

Christine Rodriguez...is a joy filled wife, mother, and engineer. She is active in women’s ministry and passionate about thriving families. Christine especially enjoys continuing study of scripture, theology and apologetics. Her special interest is in studying Pope Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and its application to parenting and healthy families.

Felipe Gregory Sasis ...has served at Beatitudes of Our Lord Parish as a Lector for the last eight years and an Extraordinary Minister for the last nine years. An Infrastructure Technician by profession. Gregg previously served the last six years as a Couple Coordinator for the Singles ministry of Couples for Christ. He has shared talks at couples and singles retreats for the last 12 years.

Deacon Gabe Saavedra

Deacon Gabe Saavedra

Deacon Gabe Saavedra...was ordained to the Diaconate in 2015 and serves at St. Bruno. He is on the San Pedro Region Deacon Council, and with his wife Maria Teresa are co-directors for St. Bruno RCIA and Marriage ministries. Gabe has been involved in the charismatic renewal, teaching confirmation, and co-founded Catholic Men’s Fellowship and Life Teen at St. Bruno.

Barrie Schwortz

Barrie Schwortz...was the official documenting photographer for the Shroud of Turin Research Project, that ran the first scientific Shroud examination in 1978. He continues in Shroud research around the world. He is founder and editor of the Shroud of Turin Website (Shroud.com) the largest Shroud resource and the non-profit Shroud of Turin Education and Research Association (STERA, Inc.). He co-authored The Turin Shroud, the Illustrated Evidence and has appeared on every major broadcast and cable television network.

Fr. Abebe Teklemariam

Fr. Abebe Teklemariam …is from Ethiopia, Africa, and has visited every summer to help in ministry at St. Paschal's Parish in Thousand Oaks since 2002. He is currently an Associate Pastor at St. Bruno on a special assignment from his diocese to study for a PH.D in Psychology. He received his Masters Degree in Education in Rome, and is a major linguist, fluent in many languages, but is mainly and intensely focused on bringing the universal language and insights of psychology to our faith.

Joe Sikorra…is a former actor, stuntman, and police officer. He is now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and current Catholic radio talk show host from 6pm to 8pm on Relevant Radio (AM 930) which airs on stations across the United States. During the first hour from 6pm to 7pm, he is joined by Co-Host, Fr. Dave Heney.

Dr. Marvin Southard

Dr. Marvin Southard …A licensed clinical social worker, Dr. Southard is a nationally renowned expert in mental health, homelessness and substance abuse. From 1998 to 2015, he was Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, serving more than 250,000 clients annually in one of the most ethnically diverse counties in the nation. He is now Director of the USC Doctor of Social Work Program.

Kathy Viele ...is a Master Catechist in the LA Archdiocese and part of Archdiocesan Adult Specialization Team. She was Director of Religious Education at Beatitudes of Our Lord Parish for over ten years and since her retirement is part of the RCIA Team at Beatitudes. She has spoken at both local, Regional and National Religious Education Conferences.

Ed Vidaurri...has been a religion teacher since high school, an Archdiocesan Master Religion Teacher, the Director of Adult Christian Initiation for St. Bruno, and is on the parish RCIA and Adult Confirmation team. He has a Master in Education from C.S.U.L.A. and a Master in Social Work from U.C.L.A. He is focused on helping parents pass their faith on to their children.

Father Don Woznicki

Father Don Woznicki

Father Don Woznicki...was ordained in 2002 in Chicago. In 2012, he came to LA to develop ministries to evangelize the movie business, and is now at Christ the King Parish in Hollywood. He recently served at St. Bruno and led several Marian programs there. Although raised Catholic, Fr. Don “fell away” from faith in his early 20s, but returned at age 33, which he credits to Mary’s powerful presence in his life.
